In der Masse der aktuellen USA-, Irak- und Kriegsnachrichten, ist ein bedeutend neuer Vorfall israelischer Gewalt in der globalen Presse regelrecht untergegangen. Lediglich lokale Medien, Radio- stationen und TV-Sender berichteten darüber. Israel beschoss am gestrigen Dienstag eine palästinensische Stadt mit Chemiewaffen aus der Luft. Am frühen Morgen hoben mehrere von der israelischen Armee modifizierte Kleinflugzeuge in den Luftraum ab und kreisten einige Stunden über die palästinensische Stadt "Negev". Die Sprühvorrichtung der Flugzeuge bezog die Substanz aus zahlreichen Fässern voller verbotener chemischer Kampfstoffe, welche sich im Lagerraum der Maschinen befanden. Im Süden der Stadt versprühten sie die toxischen Chemikalien über eine große Fläche und vernichteten zunächst Ackerflächen, Anbaugebiete und Erntebestände. Die nahen Wohngebiete samt Einwohnern wurden eben- falls mit der Substanz kontaminiert. Augenzeugen sprachen von einem katastrophalen Chaos. Im Dauerzustand wurden Verletzte in nahliegende Krankenhäuser zur Notfallbehandlung eingeliefert, wovon die meisten Opfer noch kleine Kinder waren. Ärzte und medizinische Quellen berichteten, das sich viele der Patienten noch immer in kritischen Zuständen befinden. Tiere und Viehbestände hatten "weniger Glück" und starben sofort nach dem sie mit dem giftigen Stoff in Berührung kamen, laut Anwohnern soll es "Felder von toten Rindern" über den Agrarflächen gegeben haben. Die Häuser und Erntegebiete selbst wurden auch schwer beschädigt und teilweise in ihrer Außenschicht massiv verätzt, wodurch viele der Gebäude nun unbewohnbar sind und die Umgebung für die nächsten 10 Jahre unter starken Folgeschäden leiden wird. Ein arabisches Mitglied im Knesset, Mr. Talab Al SaneŽe, verurteilte in einem Statement diesen Angriff als einen rechtswidrigen und barbarischen Akt, innerhalb der nächsten Woche soll es zu einer Sondersitzung kommen. Der Angriff ist leider nicht der erste dieser Art, welcher sich gezielt gegen Palästinensische Einwohner richtet. Die 120.000 Bewohner der Stadt leiden schon länger unter israelischen Repressionen und viele von ihnen verweilen seit vergangenen Angriffen nur noch in Zelten. Die Besatzungsmächte stellen hohe Anforderungen und verlangen zum (Über-) Leben enorme Geldsummen, obwohl der dortige Lebensstandart absolut inakzeptabel ist. Das Volk appelliert an die ganze Welt, den Staat Israel auf Grund seiner grausamen Unterdrückung und der rassistischen Ausrottung des palästinensischen Volkes sofort zu Intervenieren und das brutale Vorgehen zu stoppen. Auch die Medien werden dazu aufgefordert, mehr Licht in diese kriegerische Auseinandersetzung blicken zulassen, denn sie empfinden sich als Araber in Israel schon längst als vergessen und ignoriert. Wenig später nach dem Angriff, wurden mehrere Städte isoliert und von der Außenwelt abgeschottet. Einige Berichterstatter wurden zusammen mit anderen Palästinensern in einem Internetcafe beschossen, einer von ihnen starb sofort unter den Folgen seiner schweren Verletzungen. An alle Menschen der Welt, an alle Politiker, Machthaber, Prominente und normale Bürger: Lasst uns dem palästinensischen Volk unsere Solidarität verkünden, es muss etwas unternommen werden - sofort. Wir dürfen nicht länger zusehen, wie auf legaler und staatlichsubventionierter Ebene eine offener Völkermord betrieben wird! Sucht gemeinsam nach einer konstruktiven Lösung für die Beendigung der Gewaltspirale im Nahen Osten und das ununterbrochene Massaker! Israeli Planes Spray Toxic Chemicals On Negev Palestinians SOUTHERN NEGEV, March 4, 2003 (IPC EXCLUSIVE)- - Israeli light planes carrying toxic chemicals raided today wide arable lands owned by the southern Negev Palestinian inhabitants, and sprayed these prohibited chemicals over the area. Many residents, including children were injured, as well as large numbers of cattle were killed, in addition to the destruction of the crops that were cultivated on these lands. In a distributed press statement, of which IPC got a copy from, the Al Andalus society in the Negev area, said that several Israeli planes sprayed toxic chemicals over a wide area of arable land owned by the inhabitants of the southern Negev, who are mainly Bedouins and live on agriculture and raising cattle. Eyewitnesses said that many children were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment, and medical sources described their condition between moderate and critical. The toxic materials also caused the death of many cattle heads, and caused gross damages to a number of houses and cultivated lands. In an exclusive statement to IPC, Mr. Talab Al Sane'e, Arab member of the Knesset, confirmed the Israeli crime and described it as a terrorist act. He expressed his shock and said how could a government spray such substances on its own population. He further added that the Knesset would discuss this crime in a special meeting next week. Mr. Al Sane'e stressed that the affected people will press civil and criminal charges against the Israeli government for this illegitimate and unexplained barbaric act. The toxic substance is known for its hazardous effects on human life and destruction of environment for tens of years to come. This raid is not the first of its kind in targeting native Palestinians and their way of life. The 120,000 inhabitants, most of which live in unrecognized and abandoned villages in the desert, lack the most basic of services. Part of them are still living in tents, as a way to express their objection to the Israeli occupation's policies that aim to strip them off their lands for a financial compensation, and then moving them to villages with a totally different and unacceptable way of life. These people still pay a large price for being on their land. The society appealed to all the living consciences in the world to urgently intervene and stop these Israeli barbaric acts of racial extermination against the Palestinians in the Negev area. Arab Villages' Council Confirm Israeli Planes Sprayed Toxic Chemicals On Local Population In Negev Southern Negev, March 6, 2003 (IPC Exclusive) -- The Regional Council for Unrecognized Negev Arab Villages (RCUNAV) asserted in a press statement received by the IPC that several Israeli light planes, escorted and backed by the so called Israeli "Green Police" patrols, sprayed harmful chemical substances over the houses of the village of Abda, causing 12 casualties, all children in addition to two elderly citizens, who were taken to the nearby clinic in the town of "Metspe Ramon". The statement added that the resident doctor in "Metsepe Ramon" clinic refused to receive the cases and treat them, claiming that the sprayed substance pose no threat to the health. The casualties were forced to hold for two hours in the clinic, until the regional council's vice president, Mr. Ibrahim Abu Sbeih, appealed to the Israeli health minister to allow the treatment of these cases. In this context, the RCUNAV immediately filed complaint letters to the minister of health and public complaints commissioner, demanding them to form an investigation committee regarding this incident, and bring those responsible to justice. In a phone call with Mr. Labbad Tasan, head of the local committee of Abda Village, Mr. Tasan said "The agricultural crops, population and even animals were sprayed with this substance. One of the villagers tried to prevent the spraying, by standing in the middle of his land, but the "green police" threatened to shoot him if he refused to step away from his land, and then gave orders to the planes to start spraying". Mr. Tasan added that the spraying operations spread fear among the population, who started wearing their gas masks, thinking that the expected war on Iraq, for which they received their masks, had already started. In his comment on the incident, Mr. Jabr Abu Kaff, president of the RCUNAV said that the spraying of toxic chemical substances over an entire village is a barbaric and inhumane act, which confirms the continuous efforts of Sharon and his government to uproot the native residents from the lands of their fathers and ancestors, but we reassure our firm stand and struggle over our lands as long as we live.
